How to Remove Tan from the Face Immediately
As men, most of us aren’t afraid to step out into a little sunlight. There is no harm in getting out to help your mother with some groceries or to get your little sister from school. Outdoors are good for health too, if you’re a hiking, camping or cycling enthusiast. The only trouble with going out without a care in the world is the effect of UV sun rays. There are a number of sun protection options available but men forget about something as puny as tan when they’re engrossed in their adventure. Of course men’s tough skins take a while before any kind of tan or sunburn sets in. However, it also makes it difficult to treat it with regular creams or sunscreens. De-tan is tough for men and the regular de-tan cream from the store might not work as advertised. Even with men who use long sleeves, it is possible to get facial tan from both fun and work. And when the face starts to look different from the arms, it is pretty repelling to those you want to attract. Hence, it is important to know efficient de-tan home remedies for men. Here’s what you can do for a tan free face-
Preventing sun tan
Before we dash into the de-tan remedies for men, let us tell you how you won’t require the treatment at all through preventive measures. By using the following prevention methods, you won’t have to go through the pain of sun tan at all-
- Stay indoors or in shade during the peak sun of 12PM - 4PM in the day.
- Wear more whites or light coloured clothing as they reflect the sunlight unlike absorbing heat like dark clothing.
- Wear full sleeves to cover up arms and long pants for the legs, try wearing hats or arabic scarves to protect your face from the sun.
- Use a sunscreen lotion or cream, higher than SPF 30, on the exposed skin before going out and reapply every 2 hours.
- Protecting eyes is important too, wear sunglasses with polarized lenses to prevent dark circles.
- If sunbathing is important to you, do it only in the cool hours of morning from 6AM - 9AM when UV rays are non-significant.
-
Keep hydrating and try not to day drink as it will dry up your body and skin, making you more vulnerable to sun damage.
De-tan remedies
If you generally remain indoors other than going on sun drenched adventures during vacations, your skin will return to normal as it heals and regenerates from sun damage. However, if you’re continuously exposed to the sun as per your lifestyle, you can prevent permanent sun damage by using these simple home remedies-
Honey and lemon mask
Lemon is a natural bleaching agent which exfoliates and cleanses the skin. The citric acid in lemons has the ability to clear out dead skin cells. Whereas honey has enzymes which allow it to penetrate deep into the skin and hydrate it internally. So, lemon mixed with honey will penetrate deep and clear out all impurities and skin cells affected by sun damage.
Usage is pretty easy- mix two tablespoons of lemon juice in one tablespoon of honey. Apply it to your face and let it stay for at least 30 minutes. Rinse it off with cool water and dab dry.
Gram flour and turmeric mask
There are skin repairing natural acids in besan (gram flour)- linoleic acid and oleic acid. It has essential elements that exfoliate the skin, clears out dirt, pollutants and dead skin cells. On the other hand turmeric has healing capabilities which removes dark spots and repairs scarred skin. Mixed together, gram flour and turmeric powder have excellent brightening and exfoliating qualities.
Making the paste is easy- take two tablespoons of gram flour and half a teaspoon of turmeric and mix it with a quarter cup of milk or curd. Apply the paste to the affected areas and let it dry up. Once dried, scrub it off with lukewarm water.
Yoghurt and tomato mask
Tomatoes are full of antioxidants which are great for skin brightening, relieving skin irritation, and delaying the ageing process. Yoghurt on the other hand has lactic acid which eases skin irritation and inflammation while also providing protection from UV rays. Mixing them together creates a mask that can immediately heal sunburned skin and brighten complexion.
Make this easy to use mask by mixing a little tomato juice with two tablespoons of yoghurt. Apply it on the face and let it rest for 20 minutes. Once it dries up, wash it off with cool water.
Cucumber extract
The main effects of sun tan and sunburn are formation of free radicals or oxidation and fast ageing of the skin. Free radicals create more dead skin cells which darken the skin. Cucumber extracts hydrate the skin with antioxidants which fight against free radicals while reducing skin irritation.
Just shred up two cucumbers and squeeze out the juice by wringing it in a clean cotton cloth. Apply the juice on the face with a cotton ball and let it dry up. Wash it off with cool water. You can also add some lemon juice for exfoliation.
Sandalwood and coconut milk
Sandalwood soothes the skin and improves its elasticity, which prevents the skin from ageing and scaring. Coconut milk is another plant extract which has a good amount of vitamin C and heals the skin. It prevents the skin from scarring and heals it deeply.
Make this soothing face pack by mixing a quarter cup of coconut milk with a tablespoon of sandalwood. Apply the paste on your face evenly and let it dry up completely. Scrub it off with cool water and then pat dry.
